Get to know Arien
We've been waiting for Arien for a long time. When I saw her mother Quenya (New Dream's Border Quenya at Huntly) during the European Dog Show in 2018, I was sure that this is the female we want to have her progeny as our first bitch. Two years later, Arien was born in an Italian kennel raised by Martina Pagnin, from a perfect combination with a male River - imported from the Australian kennel Nahrof. We welcomed home a confident and full of character puppy, that turned our lives upside down for a couple of good weeks.
Arien in Quenya (Tolkien) language means Spirit of Fire. According to the legend written in The Silmarillion "she was the naked flame of fire, terrible in the fullness of her splendor". Arien was one of the most powerful as she carried the sun away up into the heavens giving light to the World.
How is our Arien? It's really hard to briefly describe a creature whose character is so colorful that it resembles more a dog from a cartoon or a fairy tale. Every day - fast, smart, energetic and observant. Always willing and ready to play, work or walk together. Arien loves everything and everyone. She is definitely a sensitive girl who needs human tenderness and hugging. Extremely friendly to people and children. Completely devoid of domination and hunting tendencies, she never showed even the slightest signs of aggression. At the same time, she is also tireless in pursuing her goal. It has a natural, beautiful on/off mode. When she's not on assignment, she loves chliling out on the couch or bed, and when she was younger, in a cage. She is a great companion - at home she follows me like a shadow, and in the city - no distractions impress her. In contact with strange dogs, she is friendly, but also neutral - she never demands their attention.
At work, she is best motivated by a toy, she also enjoys clicker conditioning. She has a very strong 'will to please' and is able to fully focus on the task. She is obedient and very, very disciplined. She has a nice fetch. The basics of obedience courses went perfectly, ending with passed PT1 and PT2 exams.
Herding is definitely something she loves the most. We try to regularly practice and develop our skills. In the near future we plan to pass the HWT exam and our first starts in competitions.
At shows, the judges always appreciate her beautiful front and typical for breed, effortless movement.
